Networking Best Practices:
We coach people--from CxO's
to IT Managers to Office Managers--in their efforts to ensure their
Information System supports business strategies. We have a
valuable arsenal of tools for our clients . . . . from inventory and
maintenance forms to a ticketing system to a "safe" for password
management to documented Networking Best Practices. We help them
with budgeting,
procurement,
security, reliability,
training, and
bridging the communication gap that naturally arises between technical
staff and users. We help them develop IT Strategies that
correspond to the corporate business plan. We conduct monthly
technology circles
to help those on the front lines of network reliability benchmark and
network with others in their shoes.
A
blend of standards . . .
Our best practices documentation is a superset of ISO17799, the HIPAA
Security Ruling, and the FTC's Safeguards ruling resulting from the
Gramm Leach Bliley Act. In addition to these three sets of
practices, we have also added what network engineers call "common
sense!"
Achieving Independence
We coach people – from CxOs to IT Managers to Office Managers – in their
efforts to ensure their Information System supports business strategies.
We have a valuable arsenal of tools for our clients. These include
inventory and maintenance forms, ticketing systems, “safe” systems for
password management and documenting Networking Best Practices. We
help them with budgeting, procurement, security, reliability, training,
and bridging the communication gap that naturally arises between
technical staff and users. We help them develop IT Strategies that
correspond to the corporate business plan. We conduct monthly
technology circles to help those on the front lines of network
reliability benchmark and network with others in their shoes.
We
know that if your network is designed, administered, and maintained in
the most reliable fashion, it will be easier for you to achieve
independence.
A Strong Foundation
When working
with larger companies, we consult with the IT staff and conduct
assessments to ensure that a cohesive, uniform standard is applied to
the network. We assist networking professionals in documenting
exceptions to this standard, and help management stay current in what
they consider to be “best practices.”
Where is Your Comfort
Level?
We consult
with smaller businesses in a training mode, setting their network up
according to our set of best practices, bringing their IT staff and, in
some cases, office staff to a comfortable level when it comes to
administering, maintaining, and supporting their small network.

Your independence is our best
strategy.
We have learned by watching
others in the industry that keeping quality network engineers and
general IT staff requires a balance of priorities including
compensation, benefits, atmosphere, and (most importantly) interesting
projects that provide for a challenging learning environment.
In other words,
technical people grow bored of typical network support problems!
Thus, our support strategy has evolved to a point where it's basis is
that YOU should support your own network, and we will handle what you
can't.
