Poised to Release Sifter Plus
Infotex,
Inc., an Information Architecture and Security firm based in central
Indiana,
is beta testing
an enhanced version of its offsite e-mail filtering system, "Sifter."
Defined as a "Secure E-mail System," the new system will filter outgoing
e-mail as well as incoming e-mail. "We've been developing this all
year based on client requests," says Dan Hadaway, managing partner.
"To our surprise, there are a few systems out there that do pieces of
what Sifter Plus will do, but currently none tackles it all."
Sifter Plus will catch an outgoing e-mail that has
"sensitive information" in it and "quarantine it" so that managers can
confirm whether the e-mail should be sent. Meanwhile, if a user wants
to send e-mail that IS sensitive, they simply put "secure" in the
subject line, and the system sends a link to the original recipient, who
then can authenticate and retrieve e-mail behind appropriate security
measures.
"This allows our banking and hospital clients
to effectively communicate with e-mail in a secure fashion,"
says Hadaway. "We've spent a lot of money on development, but the good
news is there is a huge interest on the part of our existing clients."
The system will come out of beta testing December 1st.
